Hello, and welcome to my blog, Planning Picture. My name is Tim Barton. I am a Transport Planner in Vancouver, British Columbia. Two of my passions are urban planning and design and photography. So Vancouver is a great place to be located! This blog is an attempt to combine the two. I have a suspicion that they might be a good combination, but you never know. If you agree, and especially if you disagree, with anything I’m saying, I’d love to hear from you and really encourage comments.

Brief career highlights: I have over nine years experience as a transportation planner, including time in both Canada and the UK. During this time, I’ve worked in both the public and private sectors. I am a Provisional Member of the Planning Institute of British Columbia and the Canadian Institute of Planners, a member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers and a Young Leader with the Urban Land Institute.

In addition, I was recently a guest lecturer for Simon Fraser University and the City of Surrey’s Transportation Lecture Series, where I spoke on transportation modeling and transportation demand management

I  have a friends and family orientated blog called thebartons.net.   Feel free to check it out. It mainly serves to update friends and family back in the UK about what we’re up to here. I also have a very simple photography portfolio website at timbartonphotography.com as well as a Flickr account here, where a lot of my most recent photos land up.
